Practice

A partner of Finocchio & English, Mark has practiced matrimonial and family law for twenty years, providing representation to families with concerns regarding children, property, future earnings, standard of living, safety and peace of mind as they seek to protect their futures and that of their family. His experience includes divorce, separation agreements, custody, child support, prenuptial agreements, appeals, relocation and Collaborative Law. He has tried numerous cases in the Supreme Court State of New York, Family Courts throughout the state of New York, as well as in City and Justice Courts in the Central New York area. Mark has successfully written and argued several published appellate cases and tried and negotiated settlement of hundreds of cases involving child custody. He has served as law guardian in Supreme and family courts.

Mark’s extensive experience in open-court stipulation and written agreements includes negotiating, drafting and obtaining approval for Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) relating to clients’ retirement plan apportionment, and general practice cases such as personal injury, criminal and traffic matters, wills and trusts, contract analysis and civil litigation, real estate closings and employment matters.

Previously, Mark was a foundry worker for Crouse Hinds where he was twice elected to the Executive Board of IBEW local 2084.

Professional and Community Involvement

Mark serves on the board of directors for the CNY Collaborative Family Law Professionals and the Onondaga County Bar Association, where he is also a former Chair of the Family Section and a member of the Judiciary Committee. Mark has been active on the Onondaga County Democratic Committee and is a board member of the Syracuse Civic Theater and Syracuse Shakespeare Festival.
