Practice

Galen is an associate attorney with Germain & Germain LLP with a concentration in family and real estate law. He strongly advocates and frequently utilizes the Collaborative Law method in representing divorce and family law clients in order to avoid the uncertainty, higher cost and bitterness that often accompanies litigation. The Collaborative Method allows for much greater participation by the clients and combines the expertise of both clients’ attorneys to help resolve difficult issues for clients in an amicable way. The Collaborative method typically gives clients the feeling that they have been heard not only by the other lawyer, but even by their spouse or the other parent.

If the Collaborative Method cannot be utilized, Galen has extensive litigation experience. He conducts trials and hearings, and prepares motions and pleadings in Supreme and Family Courts throughout Central New York. He also prepares preliminary title reports as Examining Counsel for buyers and banks in residential and commercial real estate closings, and has performed dozens of closings for sellers, buyers and banks. Galen has an extensive civil litigation and general practice in areas including criminal, traffic, personal injury, and wills and trusts among many others.

Previously, Galen was a named partner of Finocchio, English & Haab where he negotiated dozens of divorce and family law matters to settlement through open-court stipulation and written agreements. He negotiated, drafted and obtained approval for Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) relating to clients’ retirement plan apportionment. Galen also handled clientele general practice cases such as personal injury matters, criminal and traffic matters, wills and trusts, contract analysis and civil litigation, real estate closings and employment matters. Additionally, he conducted federal court jury trial as assigned trial counsel for inmate in civil rights action.
